WCRE Press Releases

EURSOLAR and the World Council for Renewable Energy call for an immediate end of all new oil exploration and especially drilling in the Arctic Waters of Alaska, currently to focus on an unbridled attack by US authorities colluding with a profit hungry oil oligopolist, Royal Dutch Shell.

Renewable resources have been available for decades to begin to replace the toxic and war driving blow-out of global oil consumption: 95% of global transport still depends on it. The Merkel Government colludes with this desperate attempt to continue to line the pockets of incumbent problem industries of the past century - despite the staggering costs on climate change damage, military and terrorits threats and the destruction of water and biological resources. The once nascent call for a German E-Mobility and electric car program has faded into the fog of broken promises and revisionist assaults on Germany's fines achievement and most productive global export of the late 1990s and early 2000s: the Feed in Tariff and Regenerative Resources Act.

Press Release and Paris Manifesto
Bonn, 6 August 2015

Time to end decades of fruitless negotiations and act on keeping our planet habitable:
Global Call for a New Energy Market Order (NEMO)

For two decades the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has kept the world drifting in a fog of fatal illusions, led by notoriously diluted, politically contaminated and tactically delayed Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports. The two-degree temperature increase over pre-industrial levels and associated 450 ppm atmospheric CO2 concentration targets promoted at UNFCCC negotiations are scientifically proven to be dangerously high and risk a permanently destabilized climate regime. Peter Droege: Climate for Peace - Christmas Message and a New WCRE/EUROSOLAR Campaign

Dear Friends -

As we look back on an eventful year 2014, bearing Hermann Scheer’s The Energy Imperative1 in our hearts and minds, we are ready for what lies ahead: political stabilization and return to the road to energy reason. We are approaching Christmas, the time of year we spend with our families and friends, a time of hope and renewal at the turn of the year. We are fully aware of the fact that the need to use renewable energy is a fully established fact and is being put into practice worldwide from African villages to the Board of Trustees of the Rockefeller Foundation – despite the desperate attempts of long established industries and their supporters, bent on reversing progress and keeping humanity prisoners in the dead ends of fossil fuels and radioactive contamination.

Translation of his work "Der Energethische Imperativ"

April 23, 2014
Peter Droege, EUROSOLAR President, GC, World Council for Renewable Energy:

The renewable energy era has begun, but requires emergency action - the time for universal and unilateral action has begun

This is a call for the world-wide move to phase out of fossil fuel energy systems and a global moratorium on new coal fired reactors; local, regional and worldwide closure of coal mines, and for the rise of a renewable economy and industry, at an equitable, steady-state economic development trajectory. To help preserve valuable financial assets, all plans for new nuclear asssets and the misguided carbon capture and storage CCS should be reassigned to renewable system deployment: a far more practical, economical and rapid path to carbon sanity.

Berlin, bcc Berlin Congress Center
November 18-20, 2013

NEW: Prof. Sauer's synopsis of IRES 2013 is now available for download + presentation 10 Theses

Due to the enormous successes of past IRES Conferences EUROSOLAR and the World Council for Renewable Energy (WCRE) has strengthened the IRES series in collaboration with EnergieAgentur.NRW and numerous other partners. Over 500 participants gathered at the 8th International Renewable Energy Storage Conference and Exhibition (IRES 2013) at the bcc Berlin Congress Center, November 18-20, 2013.

The conference series has emerged as the central platform for sharing knowledge and exchanging ideas on one of the key issues of future energy supply, having attracted more than 3,500 participants since its beginnings in 2006.

Many thanks to all speakers, poster exhibitors and participants for joining the IRES 2013!
